GATE 2015- Conducted by IIT Kanpur the organizing institute, GATE 2015 is the all India examination that is used to screen the admissions to the various PG courses in engineering across the country. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the various subjects in Engineering and Technology of the applicants.Candidates can apply to the M.Tech/ M.E/ M.Des (at some IITs) courses on the basis of their GATE 2015 scores. For the first time, GATE 2015 Scores will be valid for three years.



Known to be a tough exam, GATE 2015 will also serve as a screening test for recruitment by leading PSUs in the country as seen in the past few years. What’s New in GATE 2015?
  • GATE 2015 Scores will be valid for Three years from the date of announcement of the GATE Results.
  • All the supporting documents have to be sent online. Hard copies will not be accepted.
  • Payments have to be made online or through E-challan. Online payments included debit/ATM cards, credit cards or internet banking.
  • Random Biometric verification will be done for candidates before the examination.
  • Choice of a third city as secondary choice for appearing for the GATE 2015 Exam while filling the GATE 2015 Application Form

GATE 2015 Exam Pattern
:
  • Candidates will be tested on their comprehension and application skills, recall as well as analytical abilities
  • Candidates will have to answer Multiple Choice Questions and Numerical Questions.
  • General Aptitude Questions are compulsory for all papers and will carry 15 marks questions
  • GATE 2015 Papers with codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, will carry 15% of the total marks for the Engineering Mathematics, 15% for the General Aptitude section and the remaining 70% percentage of the total marks for subject of the paper.
  • GATE 2015 Papers with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL will also carry 15% of the total marks for the General Aptitude section but the remaining 85% of the total marks will be for the subject of the paper.
  • GATE 2015 XE Paper will have a compulsory section in Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude along with any two of XE sections B to G.
  • GATE 2015 XL Paper Pattern will have a compulsory section in Section H in Chemistry and General Aptitude along with any two of XL sections I to M
Marking: Negative marking will exist for GATE 2015 with a deduction of 1/3 marks for a wrong answer to a 1-mark multiple-choice question and 2/3 marks for every wrong answer to the 2 mark questions.

Note: Numerical Questions will not be having negative marking

GATE 2015 Application Procedure: Through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)
  • Candidates have to register first by providing a valid Email ID and a currently in use mobile number along with a password
  • The login Id will be mailed to the candidates.
  • Personal Particulars have to be entered.
  • Scanned photograph and signature as per specifications have to be uploaded.
  • Application fee to be paid online or through Challan
  • Download and print the online Application after submission for future reference

 GATE 2015 Organizing Institute and Zonal Centres: The IITs and IISc have been segregated as zonal centres and exam centres listed under each zone for the ease of students and alike.

GATE 2015 Counseling Process:
  • Candidates will have to apply to the individual institutes/universities as per the admission notification of each institute/university.
  • Counselling will be on the basis of the candidate’s performance in GATE 2015 and academic performance (qualifying degree) in the ratio 70:30.
  • Generally candidates who qualify in the life sciences papers (XE or XL), have to appear for an interview/written test) by the admitting institution. In such cases, the weightage for GATE scores is generally 70%. The minimum passing percentage of marks in the interview will be specified by the admitting institution.
