ద్వీపకల్ప
నదులు
హిమాలయ నదీ వ్యవస్థకన్నా పురాతనమైనవి. చాలా వరకు పశ్చిమకనుమల్లో
జన్మిస్తాయి. ఇవి తూర్పుగా ప్రయాణించి బంగాళాఖాతంలో కలుస్తాయి. ఇవి చాల
పెద్ద నదులు. ఇవి పంక ఆకారంలో ఉండే డెల్టాలను ఏర్పరుస్తాయి. ఈ నదులు పగులు
లోయగుండా ప్రవహిస్తాయి. ద్వీపకల్ప నదులో దేశం మొత్తం మీద తీసుకుపోయే నీటిలో
30 శాతాన్ని తీసుకుపోతాయి.
పశ్చిమ దిశగా ప్రవహించే నదులు నర్మదా
నర్మదా పరివాహక ప్రాంతం మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌లో 87 శాతాన్ని కలిగి ఉంటుంది. మిగతాది
గుజరాత్‌లో ఉంది. అమర్‌కంఠక్ పీఠభూమిలోని మైకాల్ రేంజ్‌లో 1060 మీ. ఎత్తు
కలిగిన బుగ్గ నుంచి ఏర్పడుతుంది. భేరా వద్ద 15 అడుగులు కిందకు దూకడం వల్ల
మార్బుల్ జలపాతం ఏర్పడింది.
-మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌లోని అమర్‌కంఠక్ వద్ద జన్మించి గుజరాత్‌లోని భరూచ్ వద్ద(కాంబే
సింధూశాఖ) అరేబియా సముద్రంలో కలుస్తుంది.
-దీని పరివాహక ప్రాంతం ఎక్కువగా మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌లో ఉంది. గుజరాత్‌లో కేవలం
1/10 వంతు మాత్రమే ఉంది.
-పరివాహక ప్రాంతం మధ్యప్రదేశ్, గుజరాత్ మహారాష్ట్రలకు సంబంధించింది.

-దుధి, తావా, హిరన్, షేర్ మొదలైనవి.
-నర్మదా, వింధ్యా,సాత్పురా పర్వతాల మధ్య అగాధదరి(పగులు లోయ) గుండా
రవహిస్తుంది. ఈ నదిపై కమల్‌దవర్(23 మీ.), దనుదర్(15 మీ) అనే జలపాతాలు
ఉన్నాయి.
-ప్రసిద్ధిగాంచిన మార్బుల్ జలపాతం నర్మదాపై ఉంది.
-నర్మదానది ఒడ్డున ఉన్న ముఖ్యపట్టణం జబల్‌పూర్(మధ్యప్రదేశ్).
తపతి
ఇది మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌లోని బెతుల్ జిల్లాలోని సాత్పురా పర్వతాల్లో ముల్తాని వద్ద
జన్మించి నర్మదానదికి సమాంతరంగా ప్రవహించి అరేబియా సముద్రంలో కలుస్తుంది.
దీని పొడవు 724 కి.మీ. పరివాహక ప్రాంతం మధ్యప్రదేశ్ గుజరాత్, మహారాష్ట్రలో
ఉంది. ఈ నది ఒడ్డున ఉన్న ముఖ్య పట్టణం సూరత్(గుజరాత్)
ఉపనదులు
పూర్ణ, బెతుల్, అరుణావతి, వేగ్‌హార్, గిర్‌నార్, బోరి, పన్‌జహార్
మొదలైనవి.
-ఇవి అజంతా, సాత్పుర కొండల మధ్య ప్రవహిస్తాయి.
-పరివాహక ప్రాంతం మహారాష్ట్ర, గుజరాత్‌లలో ఉంది.
-దీని పరివాహక ప్రాంతం గుజరాత్‌లో 79 శాతం ఉంది.
సబర్మతి
ఈ నది రాజాస్థాన్ రాష్ట్రంలోని ఉదయ్‌పూర్ జిల్లాలోని ఆరావళి పర్వతాల్లోని
జయ సముద్రం సరస్సులో పుడుతుంది. దక్షిణదిశగా ప్రవహించి కాంబే అఖాతం
వద్ద(గుజరాత్) అరేబియా సముద్రంలో కలుస్తుంది. దీని పొడవు 416 కి.మీ.

-వాకాల్, నేష్వా, హారా మొదలైనవి.
-దీని పరివాహక ప్రాంతం రాజస్థాన్, గుజరాత్‌లలో కలదు.
పట్టణం : ఈ నది ఒడ్డున ఉన్న ముఖ్య పట్టణం అహ్మదాబాద్. ఈ నదికి గిరికర్ణిక
అనే పురాతన పేరు ఉంది. ఈ నది గురించి పద్మ, గరుడ పురాణాల్లో పేర్కొన్నారు.
మహి
గ్వాలియర్‌లో పుట్టి గుజరాత్‌లోని కాంబే అఖాతం దగ్గర అరేబియా సముద్రంలో
కలుస్తుంది. దీని పరివాహక ప్రాంతం మధ్యప్రదేశ్, గుజరాత్‌ల్లో ఉంది.
పశ్చిమ కనుమల్లో పుట్టి పడమరకు ప్రవహించే నదులు
గోవా : మాన్‌డవి, రాజోల్ జోరి నదులు
కేరళ : పోనార్, పెరియార్, పంబ, బయపొర నదులు
కర్ణాటక : కలినాడి, శరావతి, నేత్రావతి, టాద్రి నదులు కలవు.
